Godwin Receives ENP Certification

ALACHUA COUNTY, FL - Alachua County Fire Rescue is pleased to announce that E9-1-1/Communications Section Chief Keith Godwin recently received the Emergency Number Professional Certification (ENP) from the National Emergency Number Association (NENA), the 9-1-1 public safety organization that stewards our Nation's 9-1-1 system.

The certification is a tool of this professional association to establish the benchmarks of performance that will signify a broad-based competence in the 9-1-1 field. By successfully completing this certification program, an individual has demonstrated a mastery of the comprehensive knowledge base required for 9-1-1 management and confirms their commitment to the 9-1-1 profession by showing leadership traits in public safety and pledging to remain aware of current issues and developments in the field. Mr. Godwin passed a three-hour examination to earn the designation.

The ENP exam evaluates knowledge of legislation, budgeting and finance, contingency and disaster planning, public relations and public education, employee health and safety, training and development, labor relations and labor law, human resource management, employee selection and development, compensation laws and regulation, contemporary management practices, principals of telecommunication, computer, telephone and radio technology.

In addition to this certification, Mr. Godwin was recently elected as the Vice-President of the North Florida National Emergency Number Association.
