Annually, in May, the Alachua County Foster Grandparent Program Advisory Council holds its Rock-a-thon, in which the Foster Grandparent volunteers and local celebrities rock on the Cracker Barrel's front porch to raise funds to support the program.

Last year, the Rock-a-thon raised over $4,000. The funds support events such as a yearly picnic, sending volunteers to the annual Foster Grandparent Conference, and other things that the volunteers may not receive without community support. The volunteers collect pledges the month before the event, competing for prizes, and local businesses serve as sponsors. To support the event or for more information about supporting the program, please call the Foster Grandparent Program at 352-264-6757.
