Foster Grandparent Program 2016 Rock-a-thon

ALACHUA COUNTY, FL - The public is invited to join the Alachua County Foster Grandparent Program (FGP) Advisory Council for its 20th annual Rock-a-thon, on Friday, May 6, 2016.  The event takes place on the front porch of the Cracker Barrel restaurant (4001 S.W. 43rd Street, just West of I-75 on Archer Road), from 9 a.m. until noon.

FGP members and local celebrities will keep rocking chairs in motion to raise money and public awareness of the program.

The Rock-a-thon is a fundraising event. Donations are made on behalf of the rockers with all proceeds going to FGP to support training and recognition events.

The FGP provides volunteer opportunities for seniors 55 years of age and older to work one-on-one with children, especially in Head Start classes, elementary schools, and after school programs throughout  Alachua County.
