ALACHUA COUNTY, FL – Alachua County needs citizen volunteers. There is a popular phrase that says, “Think globally, act locally.” One great way to act locally is serving on an Alachua County Advisory Board. These Boards provide essential advice to the County Commission. They are relied on to delve deeply into issues referred to them, and their recommendations are considered a trusted and needed source of information. The County encourages those interested in Advisory Boards to research them and their meeting schedules to determine what time commitment is involved for members. Typically, advisory boards meet once monthly, and they are open to the public. Attending one of the meetings may assist you in learning more about a particular advisory board's function. While some vacancies require specific qualifications, many are available to citizens at large.
