April Commercial Horticulture Programs

ALACHUA COUNTY, FL - The UF/IFAS Extension Alachua County Office is pleased to announce the following Commercial Horticulture Programs for April, 2017. These programs are being offered by Dr. Tatiana Sanchez, Commercial Horticulture Agent at the UF/IFAS Extension Alachua County Office (2800 N.E. 39th Avenue, Gainesville).

Growing for Profit – Spring Series – April 1, from 8:50 a.m. to noon

Small farmers or those considering starting a new farm business should attend this class. Invited speakers from UF/IFAS Extension, SBDC, Florida Department of Agriculture, Water District, Farm Credit and others will speak about the basis for a successful business.

Registration cost is $15. Participants can register online (for an additional fee). There are no refunds for registration costs.

Beekeeping – Colony Management & Swarm Control – April 29, from 9 a.m. to noon, at the UF Bee Unit (2895 S.W. 23rd Terrace, Gainesville)

Classes are designed for beginner and intermediate beekeepers. The classes are scheduled to help attendees manage the needs of hives throughout the year. Live bees will be used; please dress in protective clothing.
