The Alachua County Crisis Center offers 24/7 crisis and suicide intervention services to all residents of Alachua County. These services include 24/7 crisis phone counseling and mobile response care teams, as well as emergency walk-in services and ongoing counseling during regular business hours. Additionally, the Crisis Center provides support during community trauma responses and community education and outreach.
Annually, the Center responds to about 45,000 calls on our crisis lines, with roughly 9,000 of those being from the National 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline. In addition to the crisis lines, during times of community disaster, the Crisis Center's 311 Critical Information Line has responded to an additional 10,000 calls (over 40,000 during the 2004 hurricane season), from citizens seeking information, comfort, and support. In a given calendar year, the Center provides approximately 300 mobile crisis responses out in the community and over 1,200 hours of counseling. A team of several staff members and over 100 volunteers work over 52,000 hours annually to fully operate our programs.
