Public Input Needed for Update of the County’s Comprehensive Plan

The County Commission is currently reviewing and preparing to update the Alachua County Comprehensive Plan. The Plan is the document that brings together the vision for the community with policies that guide growth, economic development, natural resource protection, and provision of public services affecting all aspects of daily life including where people live, work, shop, and play. Key areas covered in the Comprehensive Plan include Land Use, Housing, Transportation, Public Facilities and Services, Economic Opportunity, Resource Protection, Community Health, and Energy.

Public participation is a key component of this process. The public is invited and encouraged to participate in updating the Plan by providing input at upcoming meetings and sending comments to planning@alachuacounty.us.

“This is an opportunity for the people of Alachua County to help shape the future of our community,” said Alachua County Growth Management Interim Director Missy Daniels. “The Comprehensive Plan should reflect the community’s vision, so public participation is essential. We hope to have residents and community groups directly engage in the process as we update the Plan.”
