Suicide Prevention 101: A Community Gatekeeper Training

The Alachua County Crisis Center invites residents to their “Suicide Prevention 101: A Community Gatekeeper Training.” The training is on Wednesday, September 26, 2018, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., at the Thomas Coward Auditorium (224 S.E. 24th Street, Gainesville). The purpose of this training is to help educate and empower citizens to know how to respond when they feel someone may be at risk of suicide.

Participants will increase their knowledge of current suicide rates, as well as the risk factors and warning signs of suicide. They will also gain an understanding of basic suicide intervention skills and the resources available to them in our community.

Alachua County Crisis Center Director Ali Martinez said, “We are honored to provide this support to our community and we believe that everyone can play a role in preventing suicide.”
