Alachua County Fire Rescue Station 9 Groundbreaking, 10-28-16

Alachua County has broken ground on the new Alachua County Fire Station #9. The future fire station is located at the S.W. corner of U.S. Highway 441 and S.R. 121 in Gainesville.

“With this new station, and Fire Station 23 soon to be built in Waldo, the County Commission is again demonstrating that public safety is at the forefront of their budget priorities,” said County Manager Lee A. Niblock, “Nothing is more important than welfare and safety of our citizens.”

The new fire station should be completed by June 2017, at a cost of $2,937,681. The 7,754-square-foot fire station features low maintenance finishes, high-efficiency mechanical systems, and tankless water heaters. The building will be certified as Green and Sustainable pursuant to the guidelines established by the Green Building Initiative (Green Globes). Strollo Architects provided architectural services for the project, and the D.E. Scorpio Corporation is the construction management firm “At Risk.”
