ALACHUA COUNTY, FL - The Alachua County Environmental Protection Department invites the public to attend one of two public workshops about the importance, and techniques for conserving water. These workshops are free.

The workshops are held:

·         Thursday August 18, 2011,  7 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. Yerkes Center (14245 Cole St, Waldo)

·         Wednesday August 24, 2011, 7 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. Trinity Episcopal Church (204 State Road 26, Melrose)

“Many people don’t realize that when they leave the tap running, over irrigate their yards, or neglect leaky plumbing that they are negatively impacting our favorite swimming holes and tourist attractions.” says Stacie Greco, Alachua County Water Conservation Coordinator.  "Our drinking water comes from the aquifer beneath us, whether it is from your own well or a municipal source."

For more information, visit www.alachuacountywater.org or contact Stacie Greco at 352-264-6829 or sgreco@alachuacounty.us.
