ALACHUA COUNTY, FL – The League of Women Voters of Alachua County/Gainesville and the Alachua County Environmental Protection Department invite the public to attend a water forum titled “The Status and Future of our Water Supply” on Wednesday, October 12, 2011, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Oak Hammock (5100 SW 25th Blvd., Gainesville).
Stacie Greco, Alachua County Environmental Protection Department Water Conservation Coordinator, and Kathleen McKee, LWV member and Research Coordinator at the UF Water Institute, are coordinating this event. There will be presentations by UF faculty about aquifers and groundwater, by Alachua County EPD about water permitting, and by Water Management Districts about trends in groundwater in North Florida. Citizens will have the opportunity to have their questions answered during a panel discussion following presentations by regional water experts.
