October Agriculture & Natural Resources Programs

ALACHUA COUNTY, FL - The Alachua County Cooperative Extension Office is pleased to announce the following Agriculture & Natural Resources Programs for October, 2011.  These programs will be conducted by Barton Wilder, Agriculture & Natural Resources Agent.  The programs will be held at the Alachua County Cooperative Extension Office (2800 NE 39th Avenue, Gainesville).

Aquatic Pest Control Applicator Pesticide School - Wednesday, October 19, 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.   
This workshop is designed to provide training for commercial or public applicators seeking certification & licensure to apply pesticides for aquatic plant control in Florida.

Full day registration fee is $45.00 (includes books & lunch), $10.00 (no books & includes lunch) and half day registration fee is $5.00 (no books, no lunch).  To register, call 352-955-2402 by October 12.  CORE Exam & Aquatic Applicator Exam will be offered at the end of their session.  1 CORE & 5 Aquatic Applicator CEUs will be offered, CCAs will be available.

Worker Protection Standard – Train the Trainer Workshop - Wednesday, October 26, 8:30 a.m. to noon
Federal and State law require that all agricultural workers be trained in the Worker Protection Standard by their 5th day on the job.  By attending this workshop you will receive: training in all major aspects of Worker Protection Standards (WPS), WPS Train the Trainer materials, handouts of educational material and a Department of Agriculture Inspector will be present to answer questions on WPS enforcement and compliance.

There is a $5.00 registration fee, please register by October 21, at 352-955-2402. 3 Private Applicator CEUs will be offered.
