ALACHUA COUNTY, FL - The Alachua County Environmental Protection Department invites the public to participate in the next Santa Fe River Springs Basin Working Group meeting. The group is meeting Thursday, January 12, 2012, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m., at the Opera House (65 N. Main St., High Springs, above the Great Outdoors Restaurant).
The Santa Fe River Springs Basin Working Group is a public forum in which professionals, government entities, and citizens discuss issues and activities that can affect the quality and quantity of water in local springs.
“The Working Group is a great place for citizens to learn about the various issues that affect springs and to meet stakeholders involved in reducing these threats.” said Stacie Greco, Alachua County Environmental Protection Department Water Conservation Coordinator. She continued, "The meeting includes a variety of presentations ranging from a slideshow that follows the path of the Santa Fe River to the Columbia County Manager discussing recent efforts to address regional water supply concerns."
