Transfer of Development Rights Workshop

Monday, February 18, 2008 12:00 AM

3:53 p.m.

ALACHUA COUNTY, FL - All interested citizens are invited to attend a Transfer of Development Rights (TDR) workshop on Monday, February 25, 2008 at 4:00 p.m. in the Grace Knight Conference Room in the County Administration Building located at 12 SE 1st Street, Gainesville.

A TDR program is an implementation tool that provides a framework for offering incentives through focus on a market-based mechanism to compensate landowners for developing their property at a lesser density while directing density to more suitable locations.

On January 31, the Board of County Commissioners approved a motion directing staff to prepare Comprehensive Plan language implementing a TDR program.  The language is based largely on the staff recommendation in the final TDR Report as presented to the Board,  with some minor changes. This workshop is an opportunity for citizens to review and comment on proposed draft language.  When finalized the language will be submitted as part of the next Large-Scale Comprehensive Plan Amendment cycle for transmittal hearings with the Planning Commission on April 16th and the Board of County Commissioners on May 13th.

The final TDR report presented to the Board is available at http://growth-management.alachua.fl.us/tdr/TDR%20Report_FINAL.pdf
