ALACHUA COUNTY, FL - The Alachua County Health Department, in cooperation with the Alachua County Supervisor of Elections, is offering flu shots at three voting precincts on November 4, 2008.
"Getting a flu shot is an important step in preventing influenza infection." stated Paul Myers, Assistant Director of the Alachua County Health Department. "Flu shots can prevent disease, minimize the severity of illness, and help protect your family, friends and coworkers. We encourage citizens at these polling places to vote and then get their shot."
Flu shots will be offered at the following voting sites from 9am to 12pm:
- TB McPherson Recreation Center, 1717 SE 15th Street, Gainesville, Florida
- Greater Bethel AME Church, 701 SE 43rd Street, Gainesville, Florida
- Turkey Creek Golf & Country Club, 11400 Turkey Creek Blvd., Alachua, Florida
The cost for a Flu shot is $20. For those with Medicare B, the Health Department will file for reimbursement as long as they receive a copy of their Medicare B card and any supplemental health insurance they may have and a photo ID.
To expedite your visit, the Health Department has added a Vaccine Administration Consent Form, the HIPPA information, as well as the Vaccine Information Statement on the inactivated flu vaccine to their web site. You can reach the site by logging on to: www.doh.state.fl.us/chdalachua/
