Blood Drive Animal Adoption Event

Monday, April 25, 2016 4:30 PM

ALACHUA COUNTY, FL - Alachua County Animal Services, along with the UF College of Veterinary Medicine’s Student Association of Veterinary Surgery, and Life South Community Blood Centers are offering free pet adoptions to those donating blood on Saturday, April 30, 2016, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Animal Services Headquarters (3400 NE 53rd Ave, Gainesville).  Blood donors will receive a "voucher," which is good for a waived-fee adoption on any pet at Alachua County Animal Services. These vouchers are transferrable and do not expire.

There will also be raffles, silent auctions, snow cones, and “goodie bags” for each adopted pet. Each pet will receive a free pet id tag made possible by a grant from the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA).

Blood donors must be 17 or older, weigh 110 pounds or more, and show ID.

Pet adopters must be 18 or older, and show ID with proof of current address. If there are already pets in the home, the potential adopter must show proof that owned animals are current on rabies vaccinations and licensed. All dogs and cats available for adoption are examined, vaccinated, and spayed or neutered before leaving Animal Services.
