Tropical Depression Number Nine Information

Tuesday, August 30, 2016 10:30 AM

ALACHUA COUNTY, FL - Alachua County is expected to receive severe weather from Tropical Depression Number Nine. Some strengthening is forecast during the next 48 hours and exact impacts for the local area will depend upon how strong the storm is and how fast the system is moving as it moves by this area.

Forecast models are in better agreement on the storm taking a more northeast track as it moves across the northeast Gulf of Mexico Wednesday and Thursday (August 31, and September 1, 2016). There is generally a 30 to 40 percent chance of tropical storm force winds at Gainesville, Ocala, Jacksonville, and St. Augustine.

Residents and interests in northeast Florida and southeast Georgia should closely monitor the future progress of the storm.
