County Receives ICMA Center for Performance Analytics Certificate of Excellence for Second Year in a Row

ICMA AwardALACHUA COUNTY, FL – The Alachua County Office of Management and Budget is pleased to announce that the International City/County Management Association (ICMA) Center for Performance Analytics has recognized Alachua County with a “Certificate of Excellence” for the County’s performance management efforts for a second consecutive year. The certificate will be presented at the Alachua County Commission’s September 27, 2016, Regular Meeting.

According to ICMA, the certificate program recognizes communities for their leadership in continuous improvement, transparency, and community engagement through performance analysis.

ICMA Executive Director Robert J. O’Neill, Jr stated, “Performance analysis is an integral component of professional local government management, and jurisdictions meeting the certificate qualifications serve as examples for other governments to follow.”

Certificates are awarded based upon established criteria in the following areas:

  • Reporting of performance data to the public
  • Data verification efforts to ensure data reliability
  • Use of performance data in strategic planning, process improvement, and operational decision-making
  • Commitment to tracking and reporting key outcomes
  • Training, networking, surveying, and benchmarking


Alachua County is among 34 jurisdictions nationwide to receive the Certificate of Excellence – the highest level awarded by ICMA.

Alachua County Manager Lee A. Niblock said, “I am a strong supporter of performance analytics, performance management, and benchmarking, and Alachua County does an excellent job collecting, utilizing, and reporting performance data through our annual budget process.” He continued, “Additionally, our Business Planning process reflects our strong foundation in performance management and will enable us to continue in a positive direction while providing quality services, transparency, and accountability to all of Alachua County’s citizens.”
