If you belong to a homeowner’s association, you will need to work with your Architecture Review Committee or Board. They will likely want a sketch of what you plan to do. Please get approval prior to purchasing plants and removing grass. Most HOAs are on board as long as you get permission first. Homeowners still need to follow their HOA covenants, including the process for making landscaping changes. However, under the Homeowner Association (HOA) Florida Friendly Landscaping^TM Design Standards Ordinance, HOAs may not prohibit the implementation of Florida Friendly Landscaping (FFL).
