Advisory Board Openings

ALACHUA COUNTY, FL – Alachua County is looking for residents willing to serve on a County Advisory Board. The openings listed below have a critical need for applicants. Those with an interest in being engaged and involved with County government and the community are strongly encouraged to apply.

Current openings in need of immediate applicants include:

Alachua County Housing Authority Board: The Board of County Commissioners will appoint two citizens to the Alachua County Housing Authority Board on Tuesday, April 23, 2013. The deadline for applications is Tuesday, April 9.

The Alachua County Housing Authority Board is charged with maintaining the policy and fiduciary responsibilities pertaining to the Alachua County Housing Authority. The Alachua County Housing Authority is an independent legal entity created by State Statute. By Special Act of the Florida State Legislature in 1972, Housing Authority Board members are appointed by the Board of County Commissioners. Positions Needed: One Citizen-at-Large, One Tenant-Alternate (this position requires residency in public housing or that applicant is on the Alachua County Housing Authority’s Section 8 Voucher Program)

The Alachua County Housing Authority Board meets on the first Wednesday of each month. Meetings begin at 6 p.m. and are held at the Alachua County Housing Authority (703 NE 1st Street, Gainesville).

Recreation and Open Spaces Advisory Committee: The Board of County Commissioners will appoint six citizens to the Alachua County Recreation and Open Spaces Advisory Committee on Tuesday, May 14, 2013. The deadline for applications is Wednesday, May 1.

The Alachua County Recreation and Open Spaces Advisory Committee is charged with establishing an annual work program; engage in annual review of the Capital Improvement Project list pertaining to recreation projects; assist and advise Board of County Commission on future policies and directions in establishing an effective park, recreation and open spaces program for Alachua County. Positions Needed: Six Citizens-at-Large

The Alachua County Recreation and Open Spaces Advisory Committee meet on the first Tuesday of each month. Meetings begin at 1 p.m. and are held at the Alachua County Growth Management Conference (Room 207, 10 SW 2nd Street, Gainesville).
