Emergency Response Business Summit

ALACHUA COUNTY, FL - Alachua County Emergency Management is inviting businesses, trade/industry associations, area chambers of commerce and service providers to the first “Emergency Response Business Summit.” The summit is on June 6, 2013, from 10 a.m. to noon, at the Alachua County Emergency Operations Center (1100 SE 27th Street, Gainesville). Space is limited, so registration is required. The registration deadline is May 31.

According to the Hartford’s Guide to Emergency Preparedness Planning, 71% of small businesses do not have a disaster preparedness plan. If disaster strikes, 43% of these businesses will never reopen. The summit is designed to help businesses with their disaster planning.

  • Storm Tracking
  • Shelters
  • Recovery Site
  • Re-entry Issues for Businesses

Alachua County Emergency Management Director David Donnelly said, “The 2013 Hurricane Season is upon us and it is extremely important for businesses to be prepared for disaster." He continued, "The Emergency Response Business Summit will inform business owners and business organizations how to prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters."

Alachua County Emergency Management is also asking interested businesses to participate in an online survey to determine the level of disaster preparedness in the business community currently.
