Tropical Storm Andrea Update

ALACHUA COUNTY, FL – The National Weather Service has placed Alachua County under a tropical storm warning, and a flood watch. There is also a tornado watch until 10 p.m. They have placed areas along the Santa Fe River under a flood warning. Tropical Storm Andrea’s heaviest impact on Alachua County will likely be between the hours of 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. and may include: heavy rains (up to 3 to 5 inches), localized flooding, and low end tropical force winds of 25 to 35 miles per hour (mph) with potential gusts of up to 45 mph.  

Due to possibility of high winds, high water, and local flooding, Alachua County Emergency Management has activated the 311 Emergency Management Information/Rumor Control Line.  Call 311 for the most current information concerning Tropical Storm Andrea.

At this time Alachua County is not under a state of emergency.  There are no shelter openings, sandbag locations, or planned evacuations.
