T.S. Fay Update #16 Early Voting and Trash Collection Suspended

ALACHUA COUNTY, FL - Due to the closing of Alachua County government buildings and the Libraries, Early Voting has been suspended for Friday, August 22, 2008 at all three locations.
 
Supervisor of Elections Pam Carpenter will be in contact with County and Emergency Operations Center staff regarding the possibility of resuming Early Voting on Saturday, August 23, 2008.  Please view the Supervisor's website at www.VoteAlachua.com for updates on Early Voting status.
 
The Elections Canvassing Board Meeting scheduled for tomorrow, August 22, 2008 has been cancelled.  The Elections Canvassing Board will resume its meeting on Monday, August 25, 2008.

Solid waste and recycling curbside collection services for Friday, August 22, 2008 will be postponed at least one day due to forecasted weather conditions resulting from Tropical Storm Fay.  Curbside garbage and recycling pick up regularly scheduled for Friday, August 22, 2008 will be postponed at least until Saturday, August 23, 2008.  
 
The Leveda Brown Environmental Park and Transfer Station will be open for our regular hours of operation;  Weekdays 7:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. and Saturday 7:00 a.m. - noon.
 
The five County Rural Collection Centers will also remain open for their regularly scheduled hours of operation, closed on Thursday, open Friday and Saturday 7:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m., and closed on Sunday.
 
These schedules are subject to change due to impending weather conditions.
