ALACHUA COUNTY, FL - The Alachua County Public Works Department is pleased to announce that the milling and resurfacing of NW 39th Avenue, NW 51st Street and County Road 1474 are complete with the exception of minor repair work and final striping.

Funding for these projects was provided from Gas Tax Bond Revenues and approved by the Board of County Commissioners in April of 2005, as part of the ongoing and concerted effort to make much needed improvements to the County's transportation infrastructure.

The milling and resurfacing of NW 39th Avenue was from CR 241 to west of NW 115th Terrace, and included the addition of four feet wide, paved shoulders.

The milling and resurfacing of NW 51st Street was from NW 23rd Avenue to NW 39th Avenue and included the addition of sidewalk on the west side of NW 51st Street and signal upgrades at NW 23rd Avenue and NW 27th Avenue.

The milling and resurfacing of County Road 1474 was from County Road 234 to US 301 (4.25 miles) and included the addition of four feet wide, paved shoulders.

"We are especially proud of this project as it was the first project completed with the in-house County Road Crew," said County Engineer David Cerlanek.
