ALACHUA COUNTY, FL - The Press Release: "Local Food Stamp Hotline Starting" issued on 12/08/08, contained a statement that is somewhat inaccurate and bears clarification.

The statement:

Only about 24% of calls made actually get answered due to the call center's huge volume of calls and inadequate staffing. It is believed that only about 55% of residents eligible for Food Stamp benefits receive them."

Should have stated that:

Only about 24% of calls in which a caller tries to speak with an agent in order to get answers, actually gets to speak with an agent, due to a huge volume of calls and inadequate staffing. Only 55% of residents eligible for Food Stamp benefits receive them.

Residents interested in Food Stamps should call the local assistance line at 352-955-5338.
