ALACHUA COUNTY, FL - Current data on the energy produced by the new solar array at the Leveda Brown Environmental Park is now available online. Visitors to the site can view the power produced, the CO2 reduced, and the revenue earned by the array.

Click here to see the data.

The solar array at the Leveda Brown Environmental Park became operational on March 3, 2009 and is the first array to be part of Gainesville Regional Utilities' (GRU) Feed-in Tariff program. With the tariff, energy produced by the solar array feeds directly into the GRU grid. GRU then pays Alachua County 32 cents per kilowatt hour produced by the array.

Expected energy output of the array is an average of 150 kw per day. This represents 15% of the total energy usage of the Transfer station facilities or the energy used by 4 average homes.

For more information, or arrange a tour of the Leveda Brown Environmental Park and Transfer station including the Solar Array project, call the Alachua County Waste Management Division at 352-374-5213 or click here.
