County Water Conservation Website

Friday, October 30, 2009 4:00 PM

ALACHUA COUNTY, FL - Alachua County has launched a new website that promotes water conservation and will provide updates on their current Water Conservation Initiative.  This initiative is in response to a Board of County Commissioners request for a comprehensive inventory of effective strategies and techniques to achieve more water conservation, and less water consumption, in Alachua County.

To support this initiative, County staff is currently drafting a detailed report that will evaluate best available practices for promoting water conservation including landscaping, land use, water pricing, reuse/reclaimed water, and other residential, commercial, industrial, and agricultural uses. Beginning in 2010, Alachua County will be hosting a series of interactive opportunities for citizens and other stakeholders to provide ideas and strategies for improving local water conservation and reducing local water consumption

To learn more about this local initiative and follow Alachua County's progress, visit www.alachuacountywater.org   Updated drafts of the report will be posted as they become available for public review and comment. Topic specific staff contact information is listed on the website for citizens with a particular water conservation interest.
