H1N1 Swine Flu Vaccination Clinics

This release sent at the request of the Alachua County Health Department.

ALACHUA COUNTY, FL - The Alachua County Health Department will be offering free H1N1 Swine Flu vaccines on Saturday December 5, 2009 at four sites in Alachua County.  The vaccination clinics will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with the exception of the Waldo site which will be open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

"We are encouraging citizens who are most at risk for severe complications from H1N1 Swine Flu to receive the vaccination." stated Jean Munden, Administrator of the ACHD.  "Getting a vaccination is the primary means of preventing infection."

Those most at risk for severe complications are:

  • Pregnant women
  • Persons who live with or provide care for infants aged <6 months (e.g., parents, siblings, and daycare providers)
  • Health-care and emergency medical services personnel
  • Persons aged 6 months to 24 years
  • Persons 25 to 64 years who have medical conditions that put them at higher risk for influenza-related complications
