Plum Creek Public Workshops

ALACHUA COUNTY, FL – The Alachua County Board of County Commissioners is reminding citizens of the upcoming public workshops regarding Plum Creek Timber Company’s “Envision Alachua” Sector Plan. They are soliciting public input regarding the plan. If approved, the sector plan would allow for a major development consisting of 10,500 residential units and 15.5 million square feet of non-residential development in the eastern area of the County. Currently, the area is designated for Rural/agricultural use.

The next scheduled workshop is on Tuesday, September 16, 2014, at 5 p.m. in the Jack Durrance Auditorium (second floor in room 209, 12 SE 1st Street, Downtown Gainesville). The focus of the workshop is “Natural Resources.”

The following workshop will be on September 22, 2014, at 5 p.m. in the Jack Durrance Auditorium (second floor in room 209, 12 SE 1st Street, Downtown Gainesville). The focus of the workshop is “Transportation/Economic Development.”

Citizens are encouraged to attend these workshops. The September 16 workshop will be available live on the County’s Video on Demand website, but do to pre-emption by the Alachua County School Board will not be broadcast live on Cox Channel 12. The meeting will be re-broadcast on Wednesday, September 17 at 8 p.m., and Saturday September 20 at 10 a.m. Check the Channel 12 schedule for additional showings. The September 22 meeting will be broadcast live on Video on Demand and Channel 12.
