Bike Safety Lunch and Learn Event

bike safetyALACHUA COUNTY, FL - The Alachua County Office of Sustainability invites citizens to a “Lunch and Learn” about bike safety on Wednesday, March 2, 2016, from noon to 1 p.m. The free event is in the Grace Knight Conference Room, on the second floor of the Alachua County Administration Building (12 S.E. 1st Street, downtown Gainesville).

Participants will learn about governing statutes, local ordinances, safe cycling tips, and innovation and advancements in the area of bicycle & pedestrian matters. The event is part of a regular series of workshops and information sessions for the Water Energy and Waste Opportunities for Conservation (WEWOC) program by Alachua County’s Office of Sustainability.

Dekova Batey, Bicycle/Pedestrian Coordinator for the City of Gainesville will present at the event. The Bicycle/Pedestrian Program staffs the County-wide Bicycle/Pedestrian Advisory Board (BPAB), coordinates events, programs, trainings, outreach and collaborations that address education, encouragement, and engineering for bicycle and pedestrian related matters.

The Office of Sustainability offers the Lunch and Learn events as an opportunity for community discussion and empowerment. Participants can park in the City parking garage (105 S.W. 3rd Street, Gainesville) and bring their tickets for validation. Participants are welcome to bring a brown-bag lunch.
