Fire Rescue Announces Fire Fatality

ALACHUA COUNTY, FL - At 5:30 p.m. crews from Alachua County Fire Rescue responded to a building fire at 314 SW 145 Drive in Jonesville. While responding to the call, the neighbor reported that she believed the resident was still in the home. Crews arrived on scene to find a single story apartment with black smoke coming out of the rear doorway. Alachua County Sheriff Deputies had pulled a 55-60 year-old female out of the apartment and were providing CPR. The patient was transported to North Florida Regional Medical Center and later pronounced deceased.

The fire was contained to the apartment. The State Fire Marshall’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
