Thursday, December 2, 2010 5:00 PM

ALACHUA COUNTY, FL - Alachua County Public Works is hosting a community workshop about the 16th Ave/NW 23rd Ave project on Wednesday, December 15, 2010, beginning at 5:30 p.m. at Littlewood Elementary School (812 NW 34th Street, Gainesville), in the Terrell Performance Center.  This workshop will provide information regarding the 16th Ave/NW 23rd Ave project to interested residents, property owners and business owners along the corridor.  A discussion of alternatives to include provisions for the accommodation of bicycles and pedestrians along the entire corridor will also be conducted.  These alternatives include narrowing the existing lanes, widening the existing sidewalks, and widening the existing roadway.  Comment cards will be provided at the meeting.

The NW 16th Ave/NW 23rd Ave project (between NW 57th Terrace and NW 13th Street) includes the resurfacing and rehabilitation of the existing pavement, upgrading the existing pedestrian facilities to meet current ADA requirements, addressing safety and operational issues through intersection and median opening modifications, and stabilizing the retaining walls along NW 16th Ave.  The project length is 4.0 miles.

In order to comply with Sunshine Laws, both the Alachua County  Commission and the Gainesville City Commission are posting this workshop on their meetings list, so that commissioners who attend can participate in the meeting.
