ALACHUA COUNTY, FL - Alachua County’s Administrative Services Department and Facilities Division extends an invitation to members of the public and businesses to attend the County’s second annual Energy Conservation Day, to be held April 6, 2011 from 8:30 a.m. to noon at the Alachua County Health Department Building, located at 224 SE 24th Street, Gainesville, FL.

The purpose of this event is to share Alachua County’s energy conservation measures, sustainable best practices, and create the opportunity for attendees to gain knowledge of sustainable energy measures that can serve as inspirational models for future endeavors and be incorporated into their own energy efficiency plan.

Attendees will see firsthand how Alachua County achieved mission-critical improvements and best practices while saving taxpayers thousands of dollars annually.  There will be vendor demonstrations and displays including innovative technologies, solar technology, lighting control management, water efficient products, “Smart” HVAC systems, foam roofing, rain water harvesting, designing and construction of “Green Buildings”, incentives and rebates for energy upgrades.  There will be discussions on future funding challenges to pay for energy efficiency, sustainability and greening in these tough economic times.
