ALACHUA COUNTY, FL - The Chair of the Alachua County Commission has requested that the Board revisit the alignment of the Archer Braid Trail.  The item will be placed on the evening agenda of the December 11, 2012 Board of County Commissioners meeting.  The meeting takes place at 5 p.m., in the Jack Durrance Auditorium, on the second floor of the County Administration Building (12 SE 1st Street, Gainesville).  This item was previously addressed at the September 25, 2012 Board Meeting.

Alachua County and the Metropolitan Transportation Planning Organization (MTPO) made application for Transportation Enhancement funds from the federal government as administered through the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) in 2009. The funds were awarded to the Archer Braid Trail project which had been the top ranked regional bicycle/pedestrian project since 2004. The project has been broken into two phases. The first phase is being managed directly by FDOT and will run from a trailhead in the City of Archer to the intersection of SW 91st St and Archer Road. The second phase is being managed by Alachua County through a Local Agency Partnership (LAP) Agreement with FDOT. County Staff is managing the work of the County's consulting engineer which has produced the proposed 30% design plans for review.
