Free Environmental Protection Resources Available for Apartment Managers

The Alachua County Environmental Protection Department, in anticipation of the summer and fall move-in wave, would like to remind the local apartment management teams of the free environmental protection resources and Best Management Practices (BMPs) literature available aimed at reducing or eliminating water pollution. These resources also assist complexes in avoiding fees and citations as a result of non-compliance with the Alachua County Water Quality Code.

Resources available include:

  • Informational pamphlets describing the BMPs of proper waste and wastewater disposal and how to comply with the Alachua County Water Quality Code
  • Guides for private wastewater collection system requirements
  • Swimming pool maintenance BMPs
  • Outdoor car washing station BMPs
  • Automatic irrigation system rules and tips for use and maintenance to conserve water and lower utility bills
  • Pet waste management signage, disposal bags, magnets, and pamphlets
  • Magnets explaining the proper disposal of fats, oils, and grease to prevent plumbing issues and damage, Alachua County staff also provide free site visits to help manage and prevent water pollution.

For more information or to schedule a free apartment complex assessment, contact Lindsey Pavao at 352-264-6859.
