The UF/IFAS Extension Alachua County Office is pleased to announce the following Commercial Horticulture programs for November 2022. These programs are being offered by Dr. Tatiana Sanchez, Commercial Horticulture Agent, at the Alachua County Ag Auditorium (22716 W. Newberry Road, Newberry).

Excelente entrenamiento para trabajadores hispanos en las industrias verdes. Este entrenamiento y materiales serán ofrecidos en Español.
La ley de Florida establece que todos los aplicadores de fertilizantes comerciales deben tener un certificado del Departamento de Agricultura y Servicios al Consumidor de Florida (FDACS por sus siglas en Ingles). Para obtener este certificado, cada aplicador comercial debe estar capacitado en las Mejores Prácticas de Manejo de Industrias Verdes y recibir un certificado de finalización de la UF/IFAS y el Departamento de Protección Ambiental.
Este entrenamiento ofrece 4 Unidades de Educación Continua (CEU) disponibles en las siguientes categorías: General, Fertilizante Urbano Limitado, Mantenimiento de Paisaje Comercial Limitado, Césped y Ornamental Limitado, Césped y Ornamental y Ornamental y Césped.
La cuota de preinscripción es de $25.00 (incluye almuerzo y materiales) hasta octubre 30. Una cuota adicional por $10 se cobrará por inscripciones realizadas luego de octubre 30 o directamente el día del evento. Los participantes deben

Take advantage of this excellent opportunity to send your Spanish speaking employees to the Green Industries Best Management Practices training in Spanish. This training and materials will be offered in Spanish.
Florida law states that all commercial fertilizer applicators must have a certificate from FDACS. To get this certificate, each commercial applicator must be trained in the Green Industries Best Management Practices and receive a certificate of completion from UF/IFAS and the Department of Environmental Protection.
Up to four Continuing Education Units (CEUs) will be available in the following categories: General Standard Core, Limited Urban Fertilizer, Limited Commercial Landscape Maintenance, Limited Lawn and Ornamental, Lawn and Ornamental, and Ornamental and Turf.
The registration fee is $25.00 (includes lunch and materials). Participants must
register online by October 30. A late fee of $10.00 will be applied to registrations after October 30 or if paying at the door. There will be no refunds for the registration fee.
Limited Commercial Landscape Maintenance Workshop – November 8, from 8:15 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The Limited Commercial Landscape Maintenance Workshop trains commercial landscape maintenance personnel to make correct pesticide applications to ornamentals and plant beds only. Attendance to the full day is required before sitting for the license exam.
Those wanting to take the exam on the computer (recommended) following the class should
register online. Click on residential pest control and then “Exam Sign Up.” Participants can pay online, and then they will be given a voucher number. Please bring the printed receipt and voucher number the day of the class. Books are not provided but can be pre-ordered
online. It is recommended that the attendee study prior to attending the workshop, as this is a review. Books required are SM 1, SP 499, and SM 82.
Up to six Continuing Education Units will be available in the following categories: three General Standard/Core (Chapters 482 and 487), three Ornamental & Turf, three Limited Lawn & Ornamental, three Limited Landscape Maintenance, and three Commercial Lawn & Ornamental.
Individuals seeking recertification may attend the class for four hours if registered on Eventbrite. The registration fee is $30.00 per person (includes lunch). Participants must
register online by November 5. A late fee of $10.00 will be applied for registrations after November 5 or if paying at the door. The class is limited to 35 participants. There are no refunds for the registration fee.
