The UF/IFAS Extension Alachua County Office is pleased to announce the following Commercial Horticulture program for October 2025. This program is being offered by Commercial Horticulture agent Tatiana Sanchez-Jones.
Limited Commercial Landscape Maintenance Workshop – Oct. 30, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at the UF/IFAS Ag Auditorium (22716 W Newberry Road, Newberry).
The Limited Commercial Landscape Maintenance Workshop trains commercial landscape maintenance personnel to make correct pesticide applications to ornamentals and plant beds only. Prior to attending this workshop, please enroll for free to watch this math prep video.
Pesticide exams are no longer offered at extension offices.
This class helps you review the study materials for the test, but it is no longer a requirement to sit for the exam. Those wanting to take the exam must create an account online using the licensing portal through the Florida Department of Agriculture. Participants can pay online and will be given a voucher number. Books required are SM 1, SP 499, and SM 82. These are not provided but can be pre-ordered online at the IFAS Bookstore.
License renewal: Up to four Continuing Education Units (CEU's) will be available in the following categories - General Standard/Core (Chapters 482 and 487), Ornamental & Turf, Limited Lawn & Ornamental, Limited Landscape Maintenance and Commercial Lawn & Ornamental.
Registration: Please register online by Oct. 27. The registration fee is $30 per person (plus $3.85 Eventbrite fee and includes refreshments and materials). A late fee of $10 (plus $4.52 Eventbrite fee) will be applied for registrations after Oct. 27, or if paying at the door. The class is limited to 30 participants. There will be no refund for the registration fee
