Regular Commission Meeting Moved to November 4

​​Due to County offices being closed on Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2025, to recognize Veterans Day, the next County Commission regular meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 4. The meeting is in the Jack Durrance Auditorium on the second floor of the Alachua County Administration Building (12 SE 1st St., Gainesville). The evening portion begins at 5 p.m. The daytime meeting begins at 11:30 a.m.

Evening item of interest:

  • Weyerhaeuser–Hawthorne Industrial Park – Countywide Wetland Protection Code: Weyerhaeuser and their representatives are requesting wetland and wetland buffer impacts on a 1,067 acre project area in the City of Hawthorne known as the Hawthorne Industrial Park. Under the Countywide Wetland Protection Code requirements, applicants must submit proposals to the Alachua County Board of County Commissioners in the form of an avoidance, minimization and mitigation plan showing consistency with the code. 


Daytime items of interest:

  • Presentation of a proclamation recognizing November 11th as Veterans Day in Alachua County, Florida.
  • Alachua County Climate Action Plan (CAP) - Alachua County’s CAP is a comprehensive and integrated strategy for responding to climate vulnerabilities by fostering resilience and sustainability. In practical terms, the CAP serves as a roadmap for the County to adapt and put resiliency into action, protecting public health, safeguarding natural resources, and ensuring a vibrant quality of life for all who live here. This is a request for the Board to accept this final draft. Staff plans to provide annual updates on the status of the CAP, and the action items completed each year.
  • Alachua County Living Spaces and Thriving Places (ACLSTP) Homebuyers and Rental Development Update- Staff's presentation includes an update on activities, including meeting with certain organizations/groups, which include the public, to ascertain and receive public input on both the Homebuyers Program and the Rental Development Program. Additional input was received from the Alachua County Affordable Housing Advisory Committee and the Alachua County Housing Finance Authority.
