The Alachua County Employee Health & Wellness Center provides services to employees, retirees and dependents enrolled in the County’s health insurance plan. These services include primary care, urgent care, and wellness services at no cost. In addition, the Wellness Center has an in-house pharmacy to dispense many common generic medications and medical supplies to its patients at no cost.
The Employee Health and Wellness Center is located in the Millennium Center at 4340 W. Newberry Road, Suite 203, Gainesville.

There is no cost for eligible employees and retirees and their covered dependents to receive primary care, urgent care, lab work, x-rays, physicals and receive generic medications stocked and dispensed by the wellness center.
The Employee Health & Wellness Center stocks the generic medications that are most often prescribed on the insurance plan. The health center is not a pharamcy and you are required to meet with the medical staff before a prescription can be dispensed, including refills. If the Wellness Center does not stock a prescribed medication the staff will provide a prescription for you to take to the local pharmacy to purchase through the County’s health insurance plan with Florida Blue.
Yes, traditionally onsite pharmacies are not large enough to carry every drug available on the insurance formulary. On site pharmacies customarily limit the formulary to the generic drugs most often prescribed on the insurance plan.
Your information will not be shared with your employer or anyone else without your written permission. Medical records are protected under HIPAA (Health Care Portability and Accountability Act). No private medical record is shared with anyone without a patient's written consent. Worker's compensation records are shared with the worker's compensation insurance carrier and Risk Management in accordance with Florida Statutes.
The providers at the Wellness Center will work directly with your primary care doctor so they are informed of the care received at the Health & Wellness center. However you don’t need to have another doctor, you can use the doctor at the Wellness Center as your primary care doctor.
If you need more advanced care or testing the Wellness center staff will help you arrange additional services using specialists in the Florida Blue network.
If a patient is sent to the hospital by the doctor or nurse practitioner they will call to give report to the emergency department physician or the admitting physician. Any records requested will be sent with the patient after their consent for release of information is obtained. When the patient is referred back to the health center from the hospital, consent for medical records will be requested so the continuity of care is not interrupted.
