Fiscal Year 2013 Budget Message


Our Mission

The Office of Management and Budget exists to "enable and assist County Government toward achievement of programmatic goals effectively and efficiently within political and economic constraints by developing, recommending, and monitoring budgets in addition to facilitating decision making through consultation, coordination, fiscal analysis, contract and grant management, operational studies, and long range planning."

Community Conversations - 2012 

The Alachua County Board of County Commissioners invites citizens to attend "Community Conversations". Community Conversations is a series of wide ranging discussions of ideas and realities confronting our community in light of the current economic climate and service level expectations.  Community Conversations began in 2009 and are conducted annually with much success. 

The meetings feature a brief presentation of the County's budget and current issues facing the county, followed by an interactive table-top activity, where the participant steps into the role of a commissioner in recommending service priorities. During the sessions, participants are electronically surveyed regarding opinions on a number of local issues.

"Public/Private partnerships have become increasingly important in these lean economic times," County Manager Rick Drummond commented, "With Community Conversations 2012, citizens will partner with us by lending their thoughts and ideas to the FY2013 budget discussion.
