ALACHUA COUNTY, FL - A new edition of "Alachua County Talks" featuring an interview with Kanapaha Botanical Gardens Director Don Goodman premieres Friday April 30, 2010, on Community 12 TV at 7:30 p.m. The interview provides an overview of the founding, funding, and future of the botanical gardens. Kanapaha Botanical Gardens is operated by the North Florida Botanical Society, a nonprofit educational organization. In 1978 the society signed a lease agreement with Alachua County whereby it gained access to a 33 acre tract of land for the development of a public botanical garden. An additional 29 acre parcel was added in 1982, making Kanapaha Botanical Gardens the second largest botanical garden in the Florida.
