Health Department Hosts Koppers Superfund Open House

Alachua County is sending this press release as a courtesy to the Florida Department of Health, Alachua County office.

ALACHUA COUNTY, FL – The Florida Department of Health is hosting an Open House on recent indoor dust testing for residents near the Koppers Superfund Site on June 10, 2013, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m., at the Stephen Foster Elementary School (3800 NW 6th Street, Gainesville). People may come by at any time during this period.

The Health Department has completed a draft report about the health risk from dioxins in dust recently tested in homes near the Koppers site. The tests show no pending health threat. The Health Department would like to give nearby residents an opportunity to ask questions and speak with Health Department Officials.

The Health Department is soliciting comments on the draft report through June 24.  They will address all comments before finalizing this report.
