Health Department Expands Services

ALACHUA COUNTY, FL – The Florida Department of Health in Alachua County has started providing public health services in southwest Gainesville by opening a clinic at 816 SW 64th Terrace, Gainesville. 

This public health venture has been made possible through the collaboration and support of the Alachua County Commission ($190,000), The Florida Blue Foundation (a three year, $300,000 IMPACT Grant), the Southwest Advocacy Group (SWAG), the Rotary Club of Gainesville (a substantial gift to be determined), the Alachua Area Medical Reserve Corps and other community partners. 

“We are excited to start providing much needed health services in our mobile clinics while the permanent clinic is under construction.” stated Paul Myers, Administrator of the Alachua County Health Department. “This is a great example of a private/public partnership aimed at improving access to healthcare.”

Clinic times are Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.  Current services include adult primary care, family planning, STD testing and treatment, HIV testing, and communicable disease control.  Pediatric services are pending.
