NW 39th Ave. and NW 51st St. Milling and Resurfacing

ALACHUA COUNTY, FL - As part of the ongoing and concerted effort to make much needed improvements to the County's transportation infrastructure, on April 8, 2008, the Alachua County Board of County Commissioners awarded a contract to Anderson Columbia Co., Inc. for the milling and resurfacing of parts of NW 39th Avenue and NW 51st Street.
 
The milling and resurfacing of NW 39th Avenue will be from CR 241 to west of NW 115th Terrace, and the addition of four feet wide, paved shoulders is included.
 
The milling and resurfacing of NW 51st Street will be from NW 23rd Avenue to NW 39th Avenue.  The addition of sidewalk on the west side of NW 51st Street and signal upgrades at NW 23rd Avenue and NW 27th Avenue are included.
 
The estimated cost of both projects is $2.43 million.  Funding for these projects comes from Gas Tax Bond Revenues approved by the Board of County Commissioners in April of 2005.
 
The Alachua County Public Works Department is pleased to announce that  work is expected to begin on May 27, 2008 and will last approximately 150 calendar days.  Daily lane closures may be in effect during construction.  Travelers through this area should expect delays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays.
