ALACHUA COUNTY, FL - Lorraine Austin has been named the new Alachua County CHOICES Health Services Director. Austin is a native of Tallahassee, Florida.  She has been in Gainesville since 1985 when she came to attend the University of Florida's College of Health and Human Performance. Ausitn has a B.S. in Health Science Education with a concentration in Community Health.  She has been with CHOICES for almost two years.  During that time, she has served in various capacities, including outreach, member and provider relations, and contract management.

In speaking of the appointment Austin shared, "I am honored to have been selected to serve as director.  I have had the pleasure to work with many great people at CHOICES and I appreciate the opportunity to continue serving the citizens of Alachua County who are working and have no health coverage.  I believe that our county serves as a model for other communities as we do what we can locally to address the national crisis of the uninsured.  I am happy to be a part of that."

Austin continued, "With a lot of hard work from many people, CHOICES did meet its goal of 1000 enrollees this year.  Current enrollment is 1014.  We will continue to enhance our outreach efforts in order to reach many more residents in the County who are working and uninsured."
