Fairgrounds Presentation at Board Meeting

ALACHUA COUNTY, FL - On April 16, 2008, Alachua County staff, in collaboration with representatives of the engineering firm of Causseux, Hewett, & Walpole, and the architectural firm of HOK/Smith Forkner, held a Fairgrounds Development Workshop at the Alachua County Health Department.  The workshop discussed component design elements and placement on the new fairgrounds site.

As a follow-up to the Fairgrounds Development Workshop, County staff, Causseux, Hewett, & Walpole, and HOK/Smith Forkner will be making a presentation concerning the new fairgrounds and industrial park to the Board of County Commissioners at their regular meeting scheduled for Tuesday, June 10, 2008.  The meeting begins at 9:00 A.M. in room 209 of the Alachua County Administration Building, located at 12 SE 1st Street, Gainesville.  County staff is asking the Board of County Commissioners to provide specific direction in moving forward with the detailed master site plan for the new fairgrounds as well as approve, in concept, the site components presented and the phased development plan.

The meeting will be aired live on Channel 12 and on the County's Video on Demand website.  The meeting will be accessible at the site's archive for future viewing.

The Commission urges citizens interested in this topic to attend and lend their voices to this important discussion.
