Reminder: Oaks Mall Activity Center NW Quadrant Planning Charrette

Tuesday, December 9, 2008 12:00 AM

4:20 p.m.

ALACHUA COUNTY, FL - Citizens are invited to participate in a planning charrette for the NW quadrant of the Oaks Mall Activity Center, the area north of Newberry Road between I-75 and Ft. Clarke Boulevard.   As a condition of further approval of the recently proposed Newberry Village development at the northeast corner of Ft. Clark Boulevard and Newberry Road, the developer is required to lead a public planning charrette aimed at developing planning policies for this portion of the Oaks Mall Activity Center.  These policies should guide the future evolution of the area to a more livable, better functioning, mixed use, transit-oriented community and create the Santa Fe Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) corridor connecting Santa Fe College and the Oaks Mall.

The three day planning charrette organized by the developers will be hosted at Santa Fe College in Building R - Room R-01 on December 11th, 12th, and 13th from 9 a.m. to
5 p.m.  County Growth Management staff, the City of Gainesville Regional Transit System, the University of Florida and Carey Graham of the City of Eugene, Oregon will be among the participants in the charrette.
