Peace Officer Memorial Day

This release has been sent at the request of the Office of the Governor, Charlie Crist.

ALACHUA COUNTY, FL - On May 11, 2009 President Barack Obama, designated May 15, 2009 as Peace Officer Memorial Day in honor of all Federal, State, and local officers killed or disabled in the line of duty. The President called upon all units of government to direct that the American flag be flown at half staff.

Governor Crist, in accordance with the Proclamation issued by President Obama dated May 11, 2009, has asked that all State and local Governments join him in honor of those who serve in law enforcement and especially those who have made the ultimate sacrifice by lowering their U.S. and State flags to half staff on May 15, 2009.
