ALACHUA COUNTY, FL – The Alachua County Commission will conduct a Special Meeting and a Plum Creek Public Workshop on Monday, September 22, 2014. The Special Meeting is at 10 a.m., and the Plum Creek Workshop is at 5 p.m. The morning Special Meeting will be held in the Grace Knight Conference Room. The evening Public Workshop will be held in the Jack Durrance Auditorium. Both locations are on the second floor of the Alachua County Administration building (12 SE 1st Street, downtown Gainesville).

The Plum Creek Public Workshop:

The Alachua County Board of County Commissioners is holding a public workshop regarding Plum Creek Timber Company’s “Envision Alachua” Sector Plan. They are soliciting public input regarding the plan. If approved, the sector plan would allow for a major development consisting of 10,500 residential units and 15.5 million square feet of non-residential development in the eastern area of the County. Currently, the area is designated for Rural/agricultural use.

The focus of the workshop is “Transportation/Economic Development.”
