December Environmental & Community Horticulture Program

IFASALACHUA COUNTY, FL - The UF/IFAS Extension Alachua County Office is pleased to announce the following Environmental & Community Horticulture Program for December, 2015. This program is being offered by Dr. Denise DeBusk, Environmental & Community Horticulture Agent, at the UF/IFAS Extension Alachua County Office (2800 NE 39 Avenue, Gainesville).

Build a Rain Barrel Workshop & Sale – December 4, from 10 a.m. to noon. This workshop is presented by Alachua County Master Gardener Volunteers.

Following a short informative talk on Florida-Friendly principles to conserve water in your landscape, a workshop will be held about building rain barrels. Rain barrels are an inexpensive and effective way to collect rainwater for gardens. Participants will watch a Master Gardener build one or build their own to take home.

There is no charge to attend; however, if participants choose to build a rain barrel to take home or purchase one assembled, the cost is $60.00.
